Hecatônquíros
Titans - Greek mythology
The hecatônquiros (in Greek: Έκατόνχειρες: Hekatonkheires, "the ones of hundred hands"), or centimanos (in Latin: Centimani), in Greek mythology, were three giants children of Uranus and Gaia and brothers of the twelve titans and three cyclopes. Their names were Briareu ("the vigorous one" - also called Aigaion (Αἰγαίων), latinizado like Aegaeon, Coto ("the furious one") and Giges ("the one of great members") possessed a hundred hands and fifty heads.
Story
Soon after his birth, Uranus, horrified by the monstrous nature of the beings he had created, hid them in the depths of Tartarus. Cronus, fulfilling a prophecy of the Delphic oracle, helped them escape from Tartarus and form a rebellion that would culminate in the castration of their father, Uranus. After the fall of Uranus, Cronus came to power and again imprisoned them in Tartarus.
The hecatloners were again liberated from Tartarus by Zeus, who had been guided by their grandmother Gaia that they could be decisive in Titanomachy, the war of the Olympian gods against the titans. In this war, the hecatônquiros threw hundreds of enormous stones against the titans, helping to defeat them.
After the victory against the Titans, Briareu gained an abode in the depths of the Aegean Sea, while Coto and Giges settled in palaces in the river Oceano.
