Deities - Valkyries

Card 362

  • Valkyries

Valkyries are powerful and have healing power and even resurrection.
Valkyries also have the power to bring death to opponents wounded in battle.
(A valkyrie can operate one of these powers on a character, to operate on more characters, other valkyries are needed)

Note: Gods and Titans are immune to these powers.

Although they are portrayed sometimes without wings, sometimes with wings, we choose their definition with wings in our history.

The Valkyries in our history are warriors, and can be sent to the missions together, without limits of the number of cards.

Róta

Deities - Valkyries

Rota is a Valkyrie fighter, located in a Hidden Chamber of Odin in Helheim.

It will scream before it launches at you to attack it and deal heavy damage, either from the front or from above.

She has an additional spinning charge that she carries before launching her toward him.

Róta is attested in Chapter 36 of Prose Edda Gylfaginning, where she is mentioned alongside the Valkyrie Gunnr and Skuld, and the three are described as "always [riding] to choose who will be killed and to rule the deaths."

Otherwise, Rota appears in two kennings, one by Egill Skallagrímsson and one by Hallfreðr vandræðaskáld. Theories were proposed about the possible appearance of Rota in Gesta Danorum and the meaning of his name.

According to Guðbrandur Vigfússon, the name Róta is connected to the noun of Old Norse Róta (meaning "hail and storm") and Róta is "a goddess who sends storm and rain."

Story

The word valkyrie derives from the old Norse valkyrja (plural valkyrjur), which is composed of two words; the noun valr (which refers to the dead in battle) and the verb kjósa (meaning "to choose"). Together, they mean "choosing the dead." The old Norse valkyrja is a cognate of the old English wælcyrge. Other terms for valkyries include óskmey (old Norse "desired servant"), appear in the poem Oddrúnargrátr and Óðins meyjar (old Norse "servant of Odin"), appears in Nafnaþulur. Óskmey may be related to the name of Odin Óski (Old Norse, meaning approx. "Ombudsman's wish"), referring to the fact that Odin hosted dead warriors in Valhalla.

The original valkyries were Brunhilda ("battle correspondent"), Sigrun ("rune of victory"), Skogul ("battle"), Prour ("power"), Herfjotur ("war fetter"), Raogrior god "), Gunnr (" battle lance "), Skuld (" that which transforms "), Sigrdrifa (" storm of victory "), Svava, Hrist (" the agitator "), Skeggjold "), Hildr (" battle "), Hlokk (" battle crash "), Goll (" battle cry "), Randgrior (" peace shield "), Reginleif that causes tumult ") and Gondul (" enchanted wand "or" werewolf ").
