He was a sorcerer of the Thurian Age (100,000 BCE) who became the great enemy of King Kull of Atlantis, a character also created by the Texan escitor Robert E. Howard. He was a living dead and had a skull face, as well as great arcane powers. His ambition was to dominate the serpent men, but when the king of Valusia destroyed such a race, he returned to him all his revenge. Thulsa Doom was defeated by Kull.
In the first film of the film version of Conan, the essence of the character was misrepresented, being this its first enemy and leader of the serpent cult. In the film version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger the wizard is responsible for the death of Conan's parents and would have a lot of affection for snakes. It is responsible for the death of the companion of Conan in the film, Valéria and also of several virgins in sacrifice to its serpent god. It was masterfully played by James Earl Jones.
